Why choose a brown sheepskin?
A brown sheepskin can be used in many different ways. Mostly they are used to give your interior extra atmosphere and warmth. It makes your interior more atmospheric, gives it more warmth and provides a luxurious look.
Why a brown sheepskin can add so much atmosphere to your interior is that it has a rural and luxurious look. If you use the fleece as a rug you will always have nice warm feet. Hereby it makes your bare floor attractive and warm. Do you prefer to use a sheepskin purely as decoration? Then it can be a nice addition for the chair, bench or even to put over a side table. This way you can enjoy the, warmth and atmosphere that the sheepskin gives.
In addition, brown fleeces are also great to sit on. For example, place a thick brown sheepskin in your favorite chair or on the couch for even more comfort.
Tip: Did you know that you can also use a brown sheepskin for your pet? Brown is a color that goes well in many places. So put a soft brown sheepskin on the couch or in the basket wherever your pet likes to lie. This is because a sheepskin takes on body temperature, so it stays cool and doesn't get too hot for your pet. This allows him/her to enjoy the wonderfully warm sheepskin as well.
Different types of brown sheepskins
Brown sheepskins, like cowhides, have one of the most varied color schemes. A very large proportion of sheep breeds can have some form of brown wool. This can range from light brown to very dark brown. This variation also makes it immediately fun because this way no sheepskin is the same, so you always have a completely unique coat that no one else has. The hair length under the brown sheepskin can also vary from short to long and even curly. Our brown fleeces come from the Texel sheep breed, Icelandic sheep and Greenland sheep, among others.

What makes our brown sheepskins so unique?
Our sheepskins come from Europe, New Zealand and Australia, among other places. It is a by-product from the meat industry. We are constantly looking for the best and most beautiful fleeces from sheep that have had a good life. Unfortunately, the meat industry can't do anything with the sheepskins so they are often thrown away. By tanning the skins and fleece nothing is lost of the sheep and the fleece gets a second life.

Brown sheepskin ecologically tanned for velvety wool and pleasant scent
All our brown sheepskins, like the rest, are ecologically tanned. This makes them nice and supple and wonderfully soft, all free of harmful substances that can harm the environment. To achieve and guarantee this high quality, our tanneries ensure that the fleeces are given sufficient time during the tanning process to absorb the natural tanning agents. Then they are finished and extra brushed, giving them a lovely feel and a fine sheen. Once you have your new brown sheepskin you will find that you can hardly stay away from it.
One of the other characteristics of our coats is the pleasant smell. In fact, if a sheepskin has gone through a limited (or quick) tanning process, a strong buck (sheep) / farm smell may linger. This is often the case with the cheaper sheepskins. You would rather not have such a cheap coat with farm odor in your home. You want to enjoy your new brown sheepskin right away, right?
Together with our tanners, we looked at how to make our brown sheepskins smell nice/neutral. After some adjustments in the tanning process, we managed to neutralize any buck odors present. The smell can be neutral or slightly soapy (kinda like your just-turned-wash). And we're pretty proud of that. That way, when you arrive, you know you can immediately place your new brown sheepskin on your favorite spot and enjoy it.
How should I maintain my brown sheepskin?
The nice thing about brown sheepskins is that you can't see anything on them. So don't do anything to it, no joke. Of course you are proud of your luxurious new brown sheepskin so you want to keep it in top condition. But how do you keep your brown sheepskin beautiful for the longest time? The great thing about sheepskins is that they require little to no maintenance. Want to read a detailed instruction on what it takes to keep your sheepskin in top condition?
