Are you sitting in a (wheel)chair for a long time or lying in bed for a long time? Then it is nice if this can be done comfortably. Medical sheepskins are specially designed to give you relief and extra comfort if you have to sit or lie down for a longer period of time regardless of whether this is for a medical reason.
By shearing the wool of the sheepskin evenly and shorter (+/- 3cm L), you get an even layer of wool that ensures that your weight is evenly distributed when you sit or lie on the coat. Because of its softness and pressure distribution, a medicinal sheepskin can prevent the development of bedsores, also known as decubitus. So you immediately create extra comfort in your bed and (rolling) chair with a medicinal sheepskin.
- Color: medicinal
- Hair length: short
- Anti-odor treatment: Yes, double washed
What are the benefits of a medicated sheepskin?
Medicated sheepskins bring several benefits, namely:
- They distribute the pressure of your body evenly.
- They are super soft and increase your sitting and lying comfort.
- They drive off excess moisture.
- They are breathable.
- They can prevent pressure sores (bedsores).
- They keep you warm when it's cold and stay nice and cool when it's hot.
- They meet the Oeko-tex Standard 100 mark.
- They are ecologically tanned and free of chemicals.
How can you use this medicinal sheepskin?
Medicated sheepskins are specially designed to bring physical relief and reduce physical complaints. They are sheared and have a wool length of +/- 3cm L. As a result, your weight is evenly distributed and you always sit / lie comfortably.
- Medical Purpose: People who need to sit or lie down a lot can experience relief by using antidecubitus sheepskins.
- When sitting a lot: Prolonged sitting can actually lead to pressure sores (also known as bedsores). Put a medicated sheepskin on the chair seat so you can sit more softly and comfortably.
- Lying down for long periods of time: Here the same applies as for sitting a lot. Lying down a lot can also cause bedsores. Therefore, place a medicated sheepskin on top of your fitted sheet or flannel. For example, place the fleece at the level of your hips, knees or shoulders for extra support. (Or go for an extra large coat so that several areas are relieved at the same time).
- For other physical complaints: A medicated sheepskin can also be used well for other physical complaints, such as back pain and joint pain. This is because they keep your muscles nice and warm.
Ecologically tanned, better for the environment
We have all our medicinal sheepskins sustainably tanned. This means that the tannery does not use any harmful substances that could harm the environment, such as chromium, heavy metals and other harmful substances. We even go a step further and can proudly say that the sheepskins we have are allowed to carry the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label.
Unique tanning that gives the medicated sheepskin a silky soft feel and smell
This medicated sheepskin is super supple and has a wonderfully soft texture. To achieve this high quality, the sheepskin is brushed several times which makes it extra soft and gives it an amazingly beautiful sheen.
Another feature of this premium medicated sheepskin is its pleasant smell. In fact, we noticed that many sheepskins on the market have a very pungent sheep/farm smell. This is characteristic of cheap sheepskins that have gone through only a limited tanning process. If you put such a cheap sheepskin in your house, the whole house will smell of sheep within no time, not really desirable. After all, you want to be able to enjoy the medicinal sheepskin right away, right?
We have been working with our tannery on how to make the medicated sheepskins smell nice. After some adjustments in the tanning process, our sheepskins smell nice and have a pleasant scent, and we are quite a bit proud of that. As a result, you can use them immediately and enjoy their softness.
How can you maintain this medicated sheepskin?
Medicated sheepskins require little to no maintenance. If dirt or moisture has gotten on the coat you can use the tips below when cleaning.
Remove stains and dirt from the medicated sheepskin:
- These can be gently whipped out with the hand or a mat whisk.
- If moisture (beverage, etc.) is spilled on it, pat the area dry immediately (do not rub!) with a clean dry cloth.
- Stubborn stains can be removed with a small amount of natural detergent with lukewarm/hot water.
- Dried-up dirt can be removed with a slightly damp cloth.
- Note, never put them in a washer or dryer!
